Daniel Dubois demolishes Fabio Wardley in two rounds
Daniel Dubois delivered an emphatic heavyweight statement, stopping Fabio Wardley in the second round to retain the WBO championship.
A decisive rematch
Dubois took control almost immediately and forced the conclusion before Wardley could establish a sustained rhythm. The corner stoppage came at 2:21 of round two, producing a far more conclusive outcome than the uncertainty that had surrounded their rivalry.
“It was my time and my era.” — Daniel Dubois
What it means
The result strengthens Dubois’s negotiating position in the heavyweight title picture. An early stoppage over a highly ranked challenger keeps attention on possible unification fights and on the next mandatory obligations attached to the WBO belt.
Wardley’s defeat will affect the division competitively, but official rankings should not be rewritten in advance. His current published position remains in place until the relevant sanctioning body releases a new ratings list.
For Dubois, the immediate story is simpler: he defended his championship with authority and removed the need for debate about the outcome.
